Art Basel Paris Returns to the Grand Palais With Expanded Global Reach for 2026 Edition

Art Basel Paris is set to return to the Grand Palais this October for its fifth edition, marking the first fair under the direction of Karim Crippa and signaling a new chapter for one of the international art world’s fastest-rising cultural gatherings.

Bringing together more than 200 exhibitors from 41 countries and territories, the 2026 edition will span the fair’s Galeries, Emergence, and Premise sectors while welcoming nearly 30 galleries participating for the first time. The expanded international presence reflects the growing influence of Art Basel Paris as both a market destination and a cultural centerpiece within the global art calendar.

Held annually in the heart of Paris, the fair has increasingly positioned itself as more than a traditional commercial showcase. Instead, it continues evolving into a broader ecosystem connecting institutions, collectors, artists, curators, and interdisciplinary creative communities throughout the city during Paris Art Week.

Karim Crippa emphasized the fair’s relationship with the cultural identity of Paris itself, describing Art Basel Paris as a platform shaped in direct dialogue with the city’s artistic infrastructure and international creative networks. His inaugural edition arrives during renewed momentum for the French art market, with the Art Basel & UBS Global Art Market Report 2026 revealing that French art sales reached $4.5 billion in 2025, marking a 9% year-over-year increase and pushing the country back above pre-2019 levels.

France now represents 8% of the global art market, maintaining its position as the fourth-largest art market worldwide and the largest within the European Union.

A major component of this year’s fair remains the strong presence of French galleries, with more than 60 participating exhibitors operating spaces within France. That continued local participation reinforces the fair’s identity as both an international destination and a reflection of the country’s longstanding cultural influence.

At the same time, galleries from across Europe, the Americas, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East will participate, including exhibitors from the United States, China, Japan, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Brazil, Nigeria, Tunisia, Lebanon, Mexico, Turkey, and Côte d’Ivoire among others.

One of the most notable developments for 2026 is the rise in collaborative presentations throughout the fair. A record 12 joint booth presentations will appear this year, highlighting increasing experimentation among galleries seeking more curatorial and interdisciplinary approaches to presentation.

The fair’s acclaimed Public Program also returns for its fifth edition in partnership with leading Parisian institutions, with Miu Miu serving as the Public Program Official Partner. Meanwhile, Oh La La! — Art Basel Paris’ signature rehang initiative — returns October 23 and 24 with a guest collaborator from outside the art world curating an unexpected reinterpretation of selected presentations across the fair.

Avant-Première, the invitation-only preview experience designed for galleries and principal collectors, also returns for its second edition on October 20, further reinforcing Art Basel Paris’ growing role as both a market engine and cultural convening point.

As Paris continues reasserting itself as a dominant force in the global art conversation, Art Basel Paris appears increasingly positioned not simply as another fair on the calendar, but as a defining intersection of commerce, creativity, and contemporary cultural exchange.

Art Basel Paris 2026 takes place October 23–25 at the Grand Palais, with Preview Days on October 21 and 22 and a public Vernissage on October 22.
