Obama Presidential Center’s Historic Debut Sparks Additional Museum Ticket Release
The remarkable momentum surrounding the Obama Presidential Center continues.
Following a historic Opening Weekend that welcomed thousands of visitors to Chicago’s South Side, The Obama Foundation has announced the release of an additional block of Museum tickets after the initial allotment sold out due to overwhelming demand.
The new ticket release will cover Museum visits from September 2026 through January 2027, giving even more visitors the opportunity to experience one of the nation’s newest cultural landmarks as excitement surrounding the Center continues to grow.
The announcement comes on the heels of an unforgettable Opening Weekend that celebrated the vision of President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama while introducing guests to a campus dedicated to leadership, civic engagement, education, and community. Throughout the weekend, visitors explored immersive exhibits, public art installations, gardens, and gathering spaces designed to inspire dialogue and encourage the next generation of changemakers.
One of the weekend’s most memorable moments came as President Obama and Mrs. Obama personally welcomed the first 100 visitors into the Museum, surprising guests and setting the tone for a weekend centered on connection, service, and hope. Across the campus, live performances, family activities, community programming, and even impromptu dance parties created an atmosphere that reflected both the energy of Chicago and the mission of the Obama Presidential Center.
Visitors praised the Museum’s interactive storytelling, thoughtful design, and emphasis on action over nostalgia, describing the experience as inspiring, immersive, and deeply personal. The overwhelming response quickly established the Center as one of the country’s newest must-visit cultural destinations.
Founding Members of The Obama Foundation will once again receive exclusive early access to the next block of Museum tickets beginning July 1, while tickets will become available to the general public on July 8. For more information on membership or to purchase tickets, please visit obama.org.
“We built the Obama Presidential Center to be a place where people from all walks of life can come together, find inspiration, and leave ready to make a difference—and it’s been thrilling to see that vision come to life every day on our campus,” said Valerie Jarrett, CEO of The Obama Foundation. “The overwhelming interest we’ve seen since opening our doors is a powerful reminder of how much people are looking for spaces that bring us closer together. We’re thrilled to make more tickets available and grateful to our members whose support helps us invest in the next generation of changemakers.”
While Museum admission requires a timed ticket, the majority of the Obama Presidential Center campus remains free and open to the public, allowing visitors to enjoy its outdoor spaces, programming, and community experiences throughout the year.
Membership in The Obama Foundation provides early access to Museum tickets along with exclusive member benefits, while directly supporting the Foundation’s mission to inspire, empower, and connect future leaders through educational initiatives and community programming.
The release of additional tickets is another sign that the Obama Presidential Center has quickly become more than a museum—it has become a destination where history, culture, and civic engagement come together in meaningful ways.
