Samuel L. Jackson Takes Over Texas in First Teaser for Taylor Sheridan’s TULSA KING Spinoff, FRISCO KING

The Paramount+ original series expands Taylor Sheridan’s crime drama universe with a new city, a new criminal empire and a December 18 premiere.

Samuel L. Jackson is preparing to establish a new criminal empire, and this time, the action is headed to Texas. Paramount+ has unveiled the first teaser trailer for FRISCO KING, the highly anticipated original series from Taylor Sheridan that expands the world of TULSA KING with Jackson leading a new chapter of the franchise.

Set to premiere December 18 with two episodes, followed by new installments every Friday exclusively on Paramount+, the series introduces Russell Lee Washington Jr., a seasoned New Orleans gangster who arrives in Frisco, Texas, and discovers that the polished exterior of suburban America offers unexpected opportunities for a man who knows how to turn ambition into an enterprise.

Written by Sheridan, FRISCO KING follows Lee Washington as he begins building an operation in unfamiliar territory. With the help of an ambitious protégé, a loyal driver and an expanding circle of unconventional associates, he transforms modest hustles into increasingly lucrative ventures. But success brings complications, and every new opportunity raises the stakes as Lee works to remain ahead of the people and circumstances threatening his growing influence.

The premise introduces an intriguing contrast between the traditional imagery of organized crime and the rapidly developing suburban landscape of North Texas. Rather than placing its central character in a familiar metropolitan underworld, FRISCO KING explores what happens when an experienced criminal operator recognizes opportunity in a community whose carefully maintained appearance conceals an entirely different economy.

For Jackson, the role offers another opportunity to inhabit a commanding character whose intelligence, confidence and ability to navigate danger drive the narrative. As Russell Lee Washington Jr., he enters the TULSA KING universe with a history and perspective distinct from Dwight Manfredi, the character portrayed by Sylvester Stallone in the original series.

Stallone is also set to make a special appearance in FRISCO KING, establishing a connection between the two stories while allowing Jackson’s character to develop his own operation and relationships. The expanding franchise reflects Sheridan’s continued interest in examining power, loyalty, ambition and the complicated codes governing people who operate outside conventional institutions.

Joining Jackson are Asa Germann, Kai Caster, Lilah Pate and Savanna Gann, an ensemble that will help introduce the characters surrounding Lee as he navigates his new territory. Their relationships are expected to shape a story in which alliances can be as valuable as money, and trust becomes increasingly difficult to maintain as the operation grows.

The series also reunites several creative figures associated with Sheridan’s expanding television portfolio. Produced by Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios, FRISCO KING counts Sheridan, Stallone and Jackson among its executive producers, alongside David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Christina Alexandra Voros, Michael Friedman, LaTanya Richardson Jackson and Keith Cox.

Voros and Friedman each directed four episodes, with Voros directing the pilot, helping establish the visual direction and tone of the new series.

The arrival of FRISCO KING represents another expansion of Sheridan’s television storytelling, which has developed a substantial audience through characters navigating power structures, complicated loyalties and the pursuit of control. With Jackson at the center, the new series introduces a different geographic and cultural setting while maintaining the criminal ambition and character-driven tension that have become familiar elements of the TULSA KING universe.

There is also something particularly compelling about the decision to set the series in Frisco, a North Texas city associated with rapid development, corporate investment and suburban growth. Against that backdrop, Lee Washington’s arrival suggests a story interested in the opportunities that exist beneath the surface of prosperity, and the consequences when someone determined to build an empire begins treating an unfamiliar community as his next territory.

The first teaser introduces audiences to that world ahead of the December premiere, setting the stage for a story in which Lee’s confidence and experience may prove as valuable as the people he recruits. But as his ambitions expand, maintaining control could become his greatest challenge.

For viewers who have followed TULSA KING, the new series offers an opportunity to explore another corner of its criminal universe. For Jackson, it is a chance to establish a character whose next move could reshape the balance of power in a place that never saw him coming.

FRISCO KING premieres Friday, December 18, with two episodes exclusively on Paramount+. New episodes will follow weekly on Fridays.
