Sundance 2026 Releases First Programming — Final Chapter in Park City

The 2026 Sundance Film Festival unveiled its official lineup today, marking what may be the final edition held in Park City and the first festival presented without its longtime guiding figure and hero, Robert Redford, at the forefront. The announcement introduces a wide slate of premieres, documentaries, and legacy programming as Sundance enters a historic transition.

Festival Dates and Location

The 2026 Festival runs January 22–February 1, 2026, in Park City and Salt Lake City, Utah. Premieres for features and episodic projects are scheduled January 22–27. Beginning January 28, the festival shifts into a legacy-focused format that includes archival screenings, filmmaker tributes, and retrospective events honoring Sundance’s decades-long history in Utah.

This year carries added emotional weight, both as the final festival hosted in Park City before its move to Boulder, Colorado, in 2027, and as the first full edition proceeding without Redford’s active role after decades of shaping the event’s vision and identity.

Programming Highlights

The lineup features approximately 90 feature-length films across drama, documentary, episodic, and international sections. Notable projects include contributions from Charli XCX, Olivia Wilde, Natalie Portman, and Ethan Hawke, as well as documentaries spotlighting figures such as Courtney Love, Brittney Griner, Nelson Mandela, and Salman Rushdie. Restored classics and legacy screenings are also planned as part of an effort to honor the festival’s origins and long-running relationship with Park City.

Ticketing and How to Attend

Single-film in-person tickets go on sale Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Mountain Time. Passes and ticket packages, offering broader access, were first offered through donor and member presales, with public sales launching in October 2025. Online at-home screenings will be available January 29–February 1, 2026.

Because this is expected to be the final Sundance Film Festival in Park City and the first held without Redford’s presence, demand is likely to be high. Early ticket purchases are strongly encouraged.
