Apple TV+ Unveils First Look at Neuromancer, Bringing a Cyberpunk Classic to Life

Apple TV+ debuted the first teaser for its highly anticipated adaptation of William Gibson's landmark novel Neuromancer during San Diego Comic-Con, with star Callum Turner making a surprise virtual appearance ahead of the series' January 2027 premiere.

Apple TV+ gave science fiction fans their first glimpse into one of the genre's most influential stories during its San Diego Comic-Con panel, unveiling the debut teaser for Neuromancer, the upcoming series based on William Gibson's groundbreaking novel.

The surprise reveal was introduced by series star Callum Turner, who appeared virtually to help premiere the first footage from the 10-episode adaptation. The series is set to make its global debut on Friday, January 22, 2027, launching with its first two episodes before shifting to a weekly Friday release through March 19, 2027.

Widely regarded as one of the defining works of cyberpunk fiction, Neuromancer follows Case, a once-elite hacker whose career has been shattered before he's recruited for a dangerous mission that could alter the balance of power in a world dominated by technology and corporate influence. Alongside Molly, a lethal cybernetically enhanced assassin, Case is pulled into a high-risk conspiracy involving powerful corporations, artificial intelligence, and secrets that reach far beyond the digital landscape.

Turner leads an ensemble cast that includes Briana Middleton as Molly, alongside Mark Strong, Joseph Lee, Peter Sarsgaard, Clémence Poésy, Max Irons, Dane DeHaan, Junia Rees, Jordan Kouamé, Emma Laird, Marc Menchaca, André De Shields, and Isabella Pappas.

The adaptation marks the first major television interpretation of Gibson's influential 1984 novel, a work that helped define modern cyberpunk and inspired generations of filmmakers, game developers, and science fiction storytellers. The novel earned some of speculative fiction's highest honors, including the Nebula Award, Philip K. Dick Award, and Hugo Award, before becoming the first installment in Gibson's acclaimed Sprawl trilogy.

The series is created for television by Graham Roland and JD Dillard, with Roland serving as showrunner. Dillard also directs the first three episodes, bringing a cinematic approach to one of science fiction's most ambitious adaptations. The project is produced by Paramount Television Studios and Anonymous Content, with executive producers including Gibson himself, ensuring the author's visionary world remains at the heart of the adaptation.

The teaser offered only a taste of the futuristic world awaiting viewers, showcasing sleek technology, sprawling cityscapes, and the atmospheric style that has become synonymous with Gibson's vision of cyberspace. While much of the story remains under wraps, the first footage suggests Apple TV+ is embracing both the novel's philosophical themes and its pulse-pounding sense of suspense.

As Apple TV+ continues expanding its lineup of prestige science fiction programming, Neuromancer is already emerging as one of the platform's most anticipated series. For longtime fans, it represents the long-awaited adaptation of a literary classic. For newcomers, it offers an opportunity to experience the story that helped shape the future of science fiction.

When Neuromancer premieres next January, audiences will finally enter the digital frontier that forever changed the genre.
