Two days after closing JAY-Z30 at SoFi Stadium, JAY-Z has been announced as the headliner of the Apple Music Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show, returning to the same Los Angeles stage on February 14, 2027.

Two nights after JAY-Z stood inside SoFi Stadium closing one chapter of his career, the next one has officially arrived.
Apple Music, the NFL and Roc Nation announced Monday night that JAY-Z will headline the Apple Music Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, on Sunday, February 14, 2027. The performance will place Shawn Carter at the center of the very stage his company has helped shape behind the scenes since Roc Nation entered its partnership with the NFL in 2019.
The timing could hardly be more striking.
On Saturday, October 24, Xposure Magazine was inside SoFi Stadium for the final night of JAY-Z30, the anniversary celebration built around three decades of music beginning with Reasonable Doubt. The evening moved through the catalog that transformed JAY-Z from a Brooklyn storyteller into one of the defining figures in modern music and business, with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and Too $hort among the artists joining him for the Los Angeles finale.
Now, less than 48 hours later, SoFi is no longer simply where JAY-Z30 ended. It is where another milestone will begin.
The Super Bowl announcement arrives at the end of an unusually visible year for JAY-Z. His 30th anniversary celebration has included major live performances, the eight-part JAY-Z IN 8 series with Rick Rubin and a renewed examination of the records, relationships and experiences that built his career. Xposure explored many of those same themes in our Fall 2026 17th Anniversary cover story, JAY-Z: The Life, Times & Rhymes Between Headlines.
What made JAY-Z IN 8 particularly revealing was the opportunity to hear Carter revisit his own work from the distance that only time can provide. Records once understood primarily through bravado, ambition or survival took on different meaning when discussed through the lens of family, therapy, loss, maturity and the life that followed them.
JAY-Z30 then placed those songs back in front of an audience.
At SoFi, “U Don’t Know,” “Dead Presidents,” “Song Cry,” “D’Evils,” “Empire State of Mind,” “Public Service Announcement” and other selections from across the catalog existed alongside a West Coast celebration that brought Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg to the stage for records including “The Next Episode,” “California Love,” “Nuthin’ but a ‘G’ Thang” and “Still D.R.E.”
It was history being revisited in real time.
The Super Bowl now gives that history a different scale.
For years, JAY-Z has occupied an unusual position in the halftime-show conversation. Through Roc Nation’s partnership with the NFL, he has helped shape one of entertainment’s most watched annual performances while remaining outside the center of the stage himself. Super Bowl LXI changes that equation.
This time, the man helping produce the spectacle will also be the artist performing inside it.
There is also something fitting about the location. SoFi Stadium has now become part of the visual language of this JAY-Z era. The JAY-Z30 Los Angeles finale placed three decades of his music inside the stadium. When he returns in February, the same building will become the setting for one of the largest individual performance opportunities in global entertainment.
And for Xposure, Monday night’s announcement brings an unexpected continuation to a story we were already documenting.
Days before the announcement, Xposure Magazine was already on the ground at SoFi Stadium capturing the setting and energy surrounding JAY-Z30. Our cameras followed the story from outside the stadium ahead of opening night to the floor inside SoFi for Saturday’s finale, where three decades of music came together in real time.
We went to Los Angeles to document the conclusion of JAY-Z30. We left without knowing that the very stadium we had spent the weekend documenting was about to become the setting for JAY-Z’s next major chapter.
Less than 48 hours later, the headline arrived.
That is precisely what makes this moment interesting.
Thirty years after Reasonable Doubt, JAY-Z is not simply revisiting what he has already done. The timeline is still moving.
On February 14, 2027, it moves back to SoFi Stadium.
This time, at halftime.
